As a decorator, I have worked with clients redesigning their homes who spends thousands of dollars for the right pendant lighting or chandeliers. However, when staging a home for sale, it is not always practical to install these high-ticket pieces. I’ve done my research to find inexpensive chandeliers that show well when preparing your home for sale.
When choosing a light fixture for home staging, it is important to let go of some of your personal taste. Making a neutral design decision will allow you to capture the attention of as many buyers as possible. Here are a few of my favorites that we have used to showcase our properties. These pieces are perfect for condos, townhomes, mid-sized homes and all under three hundred dollars!
Having the right dining chandelier is ideal when merchandising your home for sale. It makes the dining room look more important, it helps divide the space in an open concept layout, and it adds ambiance and style, not to mention function and a better overall feel to the room.
As the primary (or only) floating object, often in the center of a space, a chandelier can’t help but attract attention. It allows more flexibility with the lighting and therefore more ability to influence the mood, and look that you are trying to create. To achieve its maximum visual impact, dining chandeliers should be hung thirty to thirty-five inches from the top of the table or sixty to sixty-five inches from the floor.
If you are hanging a chandelier in another room of your house, it is recommended that there is at least seven feet clearance from the floor to the bottom of the chandelier. A chandelier can be hung in any room or corner of your home, from a finished basement to a walk-in closet, with that simple rule in mind.

Effective showcasing and merchandising a home for sale is all about the details. Make sure to set aside a budget for a dining room pendant lighting or a chandelier; it is worth your every penny. If you’re on a tight budget, there are many options available for you like the ones above. They are inexpensive, it adds drama, improves function, and more importantly it improves the overall feel and look of your home.
